CAPRAI
In 2001 the Arnaldo Caprai firm celebrated its 30 years of being active. A brief period of time for a region with a millenary oenological tradition. Starting with few hectors, especially with great trust in the potential of the aboriginal vinettes and in the lands value, the family interpreted a new inclination that rediscovered the importance of the typicalness and of production of excelent quality. Today, Arnaldo Caprai has become one of the leading firms of the new Italian oenology, producing in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Brittain, Luxembourg, Zealand, Holland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Swintzerland, Australia, Brasil, Canada, China, Korea, Japan and in the U.S.A.
The Company estate extends for about 150 hectares (370 acres) 90 of which (about 220 acres) are currently in production. The vineyards are located in the area of Montefalco, Gualdo Cattaneo and Bevagna, and it is part of the production zone of the DOC Montefalco and Grechetto dei Colli Martani as well as the DOCG Sagrantino di Montefalco. The vines are exposed to a continental climate featuring warm summers and potentially dry and cold winters with occasionally some snow. The main white grape varieties grown in the estate include Grechetto, Chardonnay and Sauvignon, while Sagrantino is the leading red variety together with Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon
