VENEGAZZU'

In Venegazzu' di Volpago del Montello, at the foot of the hills bearing the same name, at the heart of the Marca Trevigiana, lies the 80-hectar vineyard of the Azienda Agricola Conte Loredan Gasparini. s. This area has an historical vocation to the production of very fine wines. Back in 1590 the historian Bonifacio praised it in his "Historia Trevigiana", stating that "the county of Treviso has woods useful for timber and hunting…. The land produces (...) excellent wine and the best one is along the river banks of Montello".

The area has a clayey soil very rich in iron and mineral components. The farm was founded in the 1950's by Count Piero Loredan, a direct heir of the Doge of Venice Leonardo Loredan (who chose the territory of "Vignigazzu" to take up residence in a gorgeous Palladian Villa). In 1973 the farm became property of its present owner and director Mr Giancarlo Palla. Since the beginning the founder decided to grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbech in the farm to produce high quality wines. His philosophy was (and still is at the basis of the Company's activity) the respect for and the enhancement of the tie between the vine variety and territory.

The pride and success of the Azienda Agricola Conte Loredan Gasparini are, and not by chance, its Bordeaux blends that over time have become true symbols of the wine production of the province of Treviso. Just to give an example, the famous Encyclopaedia Treccani, which is the pillar of Italian knowledge, has identified under item Venegazzu' the name of "...a fine red table wine produced in limited quantity in the area of Venegazzu'....". Then it is a cru.

It is not by chance that the main wine of the company, the famous Capo di Stato, has been listed by a French publication entitled "100 vins de legende" among the hundred wines in the world that for their history and top quality can be unanimously considered as legendary.
