LA MESMA

At La Mesma, we grow vines in the heart of the Gavi DOCG, at Monterotondo of Gavi (Al), in the green silence of the countryside on the watershed between Piemonte and Liguria, which takes benefit from the invisible influences of the sea. On medium blend soil with southern exposure, on the hills at around three hundred metres, we cultivate ten hectares of vines with Cortese grapes, for the production of our Gavi La Mesma DOCG.

The respect for the environment is at the root of our ongoing research for quality: the vines are divided into three sections, distinct and distinguishable for type, pedology, age and exposition, and are all grown according to the traditional system of the area, Guyot and double spur, low cordon.

The characteristics of the terrain and of the vineyards allow the wine to acquire singular and typical properties and peculiarities. We choose the best grapes and we care for them with attention and passion in every phase of the production: from the hand picking of the grapes to the soft pressing, for a limited production which distinguishes itself for the elegances of its fruity bouquet and its dry taste.

The organoleptic analysis evidences a wonderful straw-colour, combined with delicate aromas of fresh fruit, light notes of apricot and citrus fruits and a fine trace of white flowers and aromatic herbs. It is a pleasantly aromatic wine, with an elegant finish, which can develop in the bottle for several years. Excellent as an aperitif, it can easily be tasted with seafood appetizers and starters, vegetable flans, grilled or baked seafood and fish, white meats. It is perfect with a light snack of genoese salami and focaccia bread.
