FUSIONE

Fusione is found at Castellaneta, Taranto, of the property of Mark S. Shannon, Californian winemaker, and Elvezia Sbalchiero who has always been in charge of marketing. The vineyards of Primitivo and Negroamaro are generally quite old. Many plants are still the same plants immediately after the greenhouse, between 70 and 100 years ago. The majority of the vines are planted as trees and are not irrigated. The colour of the terrain is deep red and even coffee colour, with limestone as a base.

The climate is hot during the day, but many vineyards are almost of the sea shore and benefit some sweet sea breezes that refresh the Mediterranean summer nights. The plots are small, around half a hector, and are looked after by the great grandson of the farmer who planted the vines a century ago.
