MOTTURA

The land cultivated by Mottura is characterised by the unique terroir around the villages of Cellino San Marco, Campi Salentino, Salice Salentino and Squinzano. The land in these areas has a historical vocation for growing the local varietals of Puglia. Here the soil is rich in ferrous components that give it its characteristic reddish tinge. Clayey and limey layers contribute to abundant harvests and wines which are particularly rich in extracts, concentrates and body. Most of the vineyards are head-trained or trained to vertical trellises. Average productivity per hectare is 80 to 100 quintals.

The vineyards are tended in accordance with technical regulations aimed at guaranteeing integrated management, excellent quality standards and traceability throughout the productive process. The grapes are taken to the wine-making centre in the village of Novoli. The winery has a productive capacity of over 30,000 quintals and is equipped with the most advanced equipment and technologies for fermentation and maceration processes.
